Nick Valdes, LPC, NCC, CAADC
Founder & Licensed Professional Counselor
After years of working in structured residential and intensive outpatient settings, I founded GameChanger Counseling to create a space where deep, enduring therapeutic work can happen. My work in individual and group therapy spans almost a decade, including over two years spent in a reputable local group practice with incredible clinicians. This depth of experience helps me combine systematic, evidence-based practices with the flexibility and personalized attention to facilitate lasting change.
I believe that healing is a journey of resilience, not a quick fix, and it requires a trusting relationship with a therapist who truly meets you where you are to facilitate the progress you deserve.
My approach is grounded in the belief that through systematic reconditioning—with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) being intrinsic to that process—you can gain empowerment and overcome the most challenging obstacles. I am passionate about moving past generic treatments to build an individualized strategy that honors your unique journey.
My Areas of Focus:
I specialize in working with individuals navigating:
Addictions, Codependency, & Improved Relationships: Breaking complex, harmful cycles, enhancing conflict resolution skills, and building healthy, empowered connections with others.
I hold a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from The University of Alabama and have dedicated my career to trauma-focused treatment and developing engaging experiential activities for growth.
My roots are in Louisiana, but I've proudly called Cumming, GA, home for over a decade. When I'm not with clients, my time is dedicated to my family, our many pets, and anything outdoors, from camping to enjoying Lake Lanier.
I look forward to connecting with you and supporting your path to lasting change.
